Inquiry term 4 2015

I have been with joy for inquiry. We are doing science and gardening. I am also helping my brother Logan with his inquiry.

How might your inquiry help you in the future: so we did the weeding so we could all have buddy gardens and have fresh fruit.

Trouble some jones


"Troublesome jones" sounds like a boy named jones is making trouble. But what is he doing to make lots of  trouble? Maybe breaking bikes, Smashing stuff and bullying?

The cover has a truck and a bike I wonder if that's part of the story? The main colours are blue grey and red on the front page is that a part of the story maybe it's three people representing each colour.

The blurb sounds interesting. His name is Greg Jones and it doesn't sound nice to be Greg wet cold hungry it's his twelfth birthday and there's a police man who wants him and he doesn't know why he made himself get into that much trouble. 

Maybe in troublesome jones he did so much really bad stuff his parents made him on his own and the police are trying to get him. Maybe at the end his parents forgive him I guess we just have to wait and see.

Te Reo portfolio post term 3 2015


Description: On Wednesday arfternoons we do Te Reo while the kappa haka kids are at the hall. We are doing Maori body parts. We learnt that some things aren't that different like Ringa is fingers and Ringa Ringa is hands. Me and hunter made a puppet pal to show you the Maori body parts. We made up a sort of quiz to show them. If you now them maybe you could challenge yourself and before I answer them. Here is our video:




Big idea: We did something to show the moari body parts in a quiz so you could like say the answers before I do and if you are stuck on them you could watch this video refresh your memory and then ask someone to quiz you on it.
Feedback/Feedforward: I think that was quit a good video. Perhaps you could make it more exciting.

Evaluation: I think me and hunter did well with our post and I think it will really help little kids learn there body parts instead of reading wich some might not now how to do they could just hear someone saying it.

Pop art term 2 2015

Description: we are doing pop art this term. I am doing it with Kate. We have to use light colours like blues greens and red pinks and yellow. I did a stencil of a dragon and then I copied it down onto a bigger sheet of paper. I have used blues red white and yellow. I did four different dragons so I could paint them different colours. Here is my art I hope you like it and if you o please comment it would be really useful thanks!


Big idea: I wish to share the learning of how when you have to do it your colours complement each other.

Feedback:I think that the detail is very good
Feedforward:i think that you should pick a harder image.

Evaluation: i think I did well and staying in the lines was hard but I thought I could improve on it.

My writing portfolio post term 3 2015

Description: This term we are doing writing in different genres. I am in Troy's writing group. I chose Troy's writing because of my goals and what I was working on I am working on sentences and complex sentences. I am doing my writing about a fish tornado. We looked at a photo for insparation.
I chose to write a narrative. Here is my peice.
 

Big idea: I wish to share in my story that sharks are mistaken and they do not need to be killed.

Feedback: I like how you put you're persuasion in to a story of interest and death.
Feedforward: I think you could make you're story a bit more message like and other 
Than that you're story is all good.

Production portfolio post term 3 2015.

Description: This term we have been doing a production and this term what we are working on showing is ora. Ora= life. We got to choose what group we wanted to be in. There were three testers and they were Troy doing elements and Rebecca doing super heroes and Kate who is doing an out of Africa theme. We are doing a wearable art to show our ideas and what we think about our showing of life ora. I have chosen Troy and my second choice was Rebecca and my third was Kate. I am doing the element fire with Troy.

Here is what I have done so far:



1) The materials that I used to create my garment were: Cardboard, paint, hardened plastic, wood, bottle tops, tinfoil, hot glue and spray paint.

2) The most challenging thing about production for me was: was making my smock.

3) One way I demonstrated a growth mindset during production was: making my mask and smock.

4) Something I am really proud of about production was: my amazing smock

5) Our school vision is to create agency, creativity and excellence. I showed this by: creating my smock.

Reading portfolio sample term 3 2015

Description: we have been doing reading in poutama. I am in the sumerising group and sumerising is telling the story in short sentences and in your own words so you don't just take it out of the story because people can read and they might as well just go read it than have you tell them. We have been doing this all year and we go to work shops to get the teachers to help us with thinking about sumerising. I have done a news report sumerising the body art painting going on in Austria. I hope you enjoy it and like it. I did it with James and Logan and Tane.



Big idea: we learnt to sumeris and retell the story in our own words. We did a news report because it's sort of like retelling  the story and you do it in your own words and explaining about the body painting.

Feedback/feedforward: My feedforward is that James is looking up a lot and  saying um and when he speaks he is not doing it fluently enough.
My feedback is that you talked loud and clear and when you asked the questions and that the questions were good.

Evaluation: I think me and the team did quite well considering we didn't have much time to plan and when we did it we got better at sumerising so I think we did really well and that we had a good experience.

Kapahaka portfolio post term 2 2015

Description: at kapahaka we have been learning Maori song and dance. We have been learning different songs like kapanana, kamate, Karanga and some Hakas. The ones we learnt are papakitate, kamate and a lot of others. We are about to have matariki and we are doing a concert so come and see!!!!!!!!!    Here is a little about my kapahaka.


At kapahaka I enjoy the singing and the actions my favourite is the Haka for kapanana.
I am most proud of my actions because I am really good at them and I think that I have developed my skill with actions really well and now I need to get more fluent with them.
I find the singing challenging because it is really hard to pronounce a word in a different language to the one you have been taught and they don't have some letters that English have. 
I am managing this challenge by practising my words at home and ask for help.
A personal goal for me is to be brave and sing up and to not be afraid to actually sing.
Our school wide focus this term has been around showing excellence. I show this at kapahaka by listening and paying attention so I can be the best I can be and I hope once I have mastered it I can teach little kids younger than me or maybe older. 
Big idea: share about my kapahaka and my main goal is singing to a better standard.
Feedback/feedforward: I like how you have out lots of detail in to most of the answers of the questions. I think you should put a little more detail in the top one. Thomas

writing term 2 portfolio post 2015

description: In writing my goal as been to use connections and conjunctions. We got this goal at the start of he term by going to the teachers when we went to them we had to go through our writing and tick of the things we have done. The reson I have this goal is because I had no ticks how I am get better is by checking over my writing to look for connections and conjunctions.









big idea: we created a story about an image and we write our own idea about it.

Description: in maths I am stage six we had to answer and four questions. We pretended we had a sale a rebel sport and our parents gave us money to prepare for the holidays. We had to answer all the questions correctly.

Evaluation: I think I did my maths really effectively but my next goal is to learn reversibility because
It would really help me in my learning and I was really stuck on a lot of the questions because I did not know reversibility verry well and it did not help at all. So my goal is to upgrade my reversibility skill and to know how to do those questions quicker than I did last time.

Science portfolio post.

Description: I have been learning to do science with different teachers. I am doing food chains with Troy. We have been looking in our lunch boxs to see what we had in there. We linked all of our food in our lunch boxs to the stuff it was made out of like if I had bread in my lunch boy I would have wheat grain flour.

 
Big idea: we made a food web about our lunch box. We had to look at the ingredients oh the food in our lunch box. 
Feedback/feedforward: you might what to go over the hole thing in vivid but otherwise you did well doing your food web Luke.

My comprehension reading post.

Description: I have been learning comprehension for my writing. I learnt that they are text to self, text to text and text to world. Text to self is when you match the sentence in a story to yourself for example "jake likes to play soccer with his friends." And if you like to play soccer with your friends you can make this connection to yourself and relate it to yourself. Each week on Monday we book two work shops and when we are not doing our work shops we are doing our tick tack toes.


My character is will off the rangers apprentice.
Big idea: my tick tack toe is matching myself with a character in my book using text to self from comprehension.
Feedback/feedforward: I think you of put some more detail in.
it looks like you can make a lot of connections with him.
Evaluation: I found all of it really easy to do because I have read it and I love it the only tricky thing was really thinking about it and getting in deep.

Every week we learn about skills and movement that will help us play sports. This term’s focus has been around defense. We made a video showing some of the goals we have been practicing. I have highlighted the thing I think I have done well YELLOW and one thing I would like to work on PINK.
Body:
WALT: Defensive skills and movements
Success Criteria:
Body Movement
  • Weight on balls of feet
  • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Knees flexed
  • Concentration and eyes on ball, head and eyes up
  • Push hard off outside foot and go forwards to attack pass

Te Ahu a Turanga Noho Marae

Description:  In week 7, we had an overnight stay at the local Marae in Woodville.  We were immersed in Maori culture and participated in a range of activities.  We set two goals to focus on during our stay.

Big Idea:  
1.  Did you achieve your goals? Yes I achieved my goals. How do you know? I know that I achieved my goal because I got a shout out for it.
2.  What are you most proud of from the marae stay and why? I am proud of actually staying the night and not going home.
3.  What challenged you the most and why? I was challenged by my job because I had to count the forks spoons knifes and set them up.


geometry with troy.

Description: We have been learning about Geometry for Maths for the past few weeks. We looked at all the different types of shapes and in particular triangles. We have learnt that there are 4 different types of triangles and we created something to share our understanding about each of them.
Evaluation: I think me and Jacob did a good job at keeping a clear voice and explaining what were the properties of the triangle. I found the drawing the shape and angles and the thing I found tricky was properly explaining about the triangle. Next time I could try to draw what I'm talking about so if someone's watching they could draw it them selves.

My swimming goals 2015

Description:
For the last three weeks we have been going swimming. We have been doing it every Wednesday Thursday Friday. We have been swimming in the morning in the school pool.

Big Idea:
Here are my swimming goals.
Goal 1- To come first or second in backstroke. I will achieve this goal by practising making sure my arms are straight and my legs kick hard.
Goal 2- To bend my arms when I am doing freestyle. I will achieve this goal by making sure stroke is the way I have been taught.
Goal 3- To not wiggle my butt when I'm swimming. I will achieve this goal by straightening up my freestyle stroke, like when we do cat and mouse.

this is my stage 4 maths. my score was 92 out of 100. I still need to work on the ones I get muddeled up with which means I need to listen to the question and know it straight away.

























this is my stage 5 maths i got 56 right out of 100 but for this one I have to work on the ones I got right because I was a bit slow at them.

Remember felling a drop of sweat going down my brow as the plane took off.
Remember worrying about the plane running out of gas or crashing into another plane.
Remember my ears popping as I landed in Australia.
Remember going to my aunts house and going to the wild life park.
Remember holding a long snake.
Remember its head going up my sleeve and its blue tongue licking my arm.
