Athletics Day Post 2016

Description: On Wednesday we did athletics at the  massy university track. The activities I competed in were shot-put, long jump, high jump, discus, hurdles, javelin and 800-meter sprints. I didn't come 1st, 2nd or 3rd because there was a lot of competition. I think this is the most memorable athletics day I've had. my favourite was shot put and high jump because I really liked them both and I was good at them. I had to push myself to do as well as I did and the techniques were key in some of the activities we did. I think the techniques I used were really good and helpful. When your doing the activity you don't think much about it, you just strive your hardest and hope you get it done well, I was just as happy not coming podium because I know I tried my best.


  • Athletics Reflection:
    • What was the most enjoyable part of athletics for you? Why?: The most enjoyable part of athletics was shot-put because I found out I was really good at it and it was fun in general.
    • What are you really proud of? Why?: The 800-meter run because I think I kept good pace and kept my breaths even.
    • What was the most challenging part? Why?: Discus because it was really hard to get enough power and angle it the right way.
    • Where to now? What are your goals for next time? Why do you want to focus on now? : I want to focus on my throwing so I can throw farther and get podium.


Evaluation: I think I did well on athletics day and tried my best even though it was physically straining.

Writing With Elly

Description: Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we do writing with Elly.  We are learning to persuade people to buy the unsellable like an empty card board box for example. If I were to sell an empty box it would go like this: This box is no ordinary box it is a one of a kind duplication box. If you put anything in it would duplicate, for example, I put in 2 hundred and shut the lid then I open it back up and bam 4 hundred dollars. So that is what we are doing for writing.

Portfolio art post.

Description: This term we have been doing art. Our art is bassed on something called the drunkards path. Suzzane showed us this thpe of art and we decided we wanted to do it as well. First we made some paint coulerd paper and then cut it out into bits to make our drunkards path. her is a photo of mine. We also had to make a pencil one to add to our originals and the we put them together into a piece of art.


feedback: i like how you added different colours that work well together and then put them in different places to make it look better.

Feedforward:I think next time you could have mixed up the colours more.

Evaluation: It was really hard to make the bits fit but I think I did really well making them fit.

E T Reo

Description: Every Monday we have something called ET Reo. ET Reo is basically TE Reo. We have a Maori proverb or saying and we make an action for that saying. For our one, we did what is the most important thing in the world the people the people the people. Our action was making people to put on the wall with our proverb.


Feedback: Mabey you could add more detail to your person.
Feedforward: I like how you made your person he looks really good. William B

Evaluation: I think I did really well making my person look good and the action was difficult to pass on.

Book Buddies 2016.

Description: Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we do something called book buddies. Book buddies is where we chose or our reading coach chooses a book for us to read. we decide together a place to read up to like chapter 4 or 5 and once you've read up to that certain place you would have a discussion about the book and talk to your buddy. My buddy is Alex. My every day goal is to try not to read past the bit I should and to have a discussion every time we get to were we should be. We are currently reading the ranges apprentice and are really enjoying it. our book buddy group is called Nooo Mas Chicken. Here is our slide.

Discovery time week two.

Description: Discovery time I played war again I discovered that I can work well with a wide range of people but to work well with other people you have to be available to compromise. I found that the wall we made had to have a lot of support so it wouldn't fall over. I found it difficult to actually make the wall so it wouldn't fall over.

Our first discovery time.

Description: In Discovery I did army's with the imagines we built towards and walls and had a big war. I did it with William and Jacob wescott as my main teammates. It was a lot of fun and I discovered that I work well with my teammates even though I don't usually hang out with them.

Evaluation: I think that i did well, shared and we did not have any arguments but it was really difficult to work with a wide group of people.

Feedback: I think you did well at making the wall solid so it won't fall over.
feedforward: Maybe next time you could add a bigger wall.

Buddy star art. Portfolio post.

Description: Every Tuesday we join up with our buddy's  from Stevens and Nichols class and we make stars. The buddy time before that we made sahra plat art. This time we are making stars with cut out circles and string. The way we did this was that we got a largeish circle and we cut 12 small lines evenly on the outside. Then we found a patern that made a star and reapeted it to make a good looking star. I worked with Jacob and I will now be working with my little brother Wyatt. We have spent a few weeks on these and I think it was a week well spent and there are now a few little stars that have been mad and I will show you them. But what I really want to tell you about how we made them specifically. So what we'd was we got two cups one smaller than the other. Then we got A bit of cardboard from a cereal box or another kind of box. Then we got our cups and drew two circles on the cardboard, one inside of the other. After we got some scissors and cut out the outer circle. Then we cut in twelve lines that made the slits to put the string in for our patern to make the star patern. Here is what we all made:

Evaluation: I found actually getting the patern was quite hard but I managed to do it anyway.

Te Reo

Description:
Every Monday afternoon the people that want to go to kapa haka will go  to kapa haka while we do Et Reo with Elly and troy. There is a Maori song by Stan walker called aotearoa and the people in Et Reo learn it. Me fletcger and Jacob made up a game with Maori words here is the game and what you have to do to win and gain points.

Evaluation: I think it was really hard to actually win the game and i am most proud of making the game.

Japanese

Description: Every Thursday we go to room 14 for Japanese. We do Japanese with Kelly and when we are not doing Japanese we are with nick. In Japanese we were practicing for the big day when we went to I.P.U and had a tour of the school and do some activitys involving Japanese. We were a few weeks away when Kelly said that she was going to chose five special people and tell them that they were going to get up in front of every one and tell them our introductions and explain why we are here.

Feedback: I lik how you explained what you are doing in Japanese
Feedforward: You could add more about what you did in I.P.U.
Evaluation: I found getting up in front of lots of people really hard and I'm glad I did.

The moon

Description: Today is the last day of science about studying about the moon with Nic. In the past few weeks we have been studying about the moon. Like learning about blood moons and stuff. The first week we were with Nic we made a video about what we think we know about the moon. And today we made a video to improve on our last video about the moon.

Turtle writing

Description: In class for the last two of weeks in writing we have been collecting information from reliable sources and the video Elly shared with us to write a post about a turtles life like maturity, hatching and the percentage of what survives. The first week I did not look at a web page turtle live for a lot longer than us and give baby a lot and this is how they have lived for over fifteen million year and were around the time of the dinosaurs age they have evolved is lots of way if you conpered the two you wound not think there are the same animal the oldest turtle is 185.

story:
sea turtle eggs are leathery and the size of a pin pong ball 800 out of 1000 will hatch that a twenty% chance that is won't make it out of its eggs 400 out of the 800 will not make it to the water from ether being brutally murder by sea gulls or wondering the wrong way onto the road and get themselves run over 200 will make it to deep water because of sallow predators and the currents. pollution is one of the top killers for sea turtles turtle the age of 3 to 5 or 20 to 50 can have baby and this is how sea turtles live.


 have lived for 15 million years turtles have hard shells to protect them from predators they are among the oldest primitive of reptiles having evolved millions of years ago turtles spend most of there life under the water they have adopted aquatic life with webbed feet or flippers and a streamline body but this dose stop twenty making it to adults and two getting to breeding age there is a new species of giant tortes found in the Galapagos.

In bookapedia we have been learning to skim and scan with Suzanne. The way we did that was that she gave us an article about a very fast Japanese train. Here is a picture I took about the article.

1. It hovers 10cm above the ground.

A good source:
-has a good reputation, be from a trusted expert
-not ask you for private information or have virus warnings
-contain the keywords/information you are looking for

WALT: Persist to find information to gain a wider perspective


YOU WOULDNT WANT TO BE A ROMAN GLADIATOR.

You wouldn't want to be a Roman gladiator because you have to fight to the death and if you chose not to be a Roman gladiator you go into slavery wick you would normally die from after a few years. If you become a gladiator and you win your first fight you go on to fight harder people until you die or the run out of people to fight you wich only happens once with Ceaser. And after your dead they just threw your body in a pit and leave it there.

I also think I am getting better at skimming and scanning because I can et the most information out of it the quickest and this will help me because I can do an essay and get my facts to the best they possibly can be.

Reading

I read a post about an old lady returning a book to library. An the twist was she got it out as a KID!!!

Writing.

For writing I did a sentence that someone could use to describe a rose and I did a metaphor to explain my rose.

Handwriting.

 I write a poem done by Kenn Nesbitt and he wrote it about a kid addicted to minecraft.

My spelling test.

Description: We did a spelling test that was three hundred words long and we did one hundred and fifty a day so it took two days. It was not that difficult. (I say failing at least five.) we got that test for the reason of having a literacy time table spelling workshop and we needed to do the test to find out what words we had to practise. We did it on Monday got our results on Tuesday and did we also did it on Tuesday and got our results for the second one hundred and fifty on Wednesday. We took a photo of our test and we put it on this post. Here is my three hundred word test. Leave a comment on how I did.

Stevens and Ellys classes buddy art T1 2016

Description: In Ellys and Stevens buddy classes we have made a piece of art and the way we did it was we  got one massive piece of already made art and cut it into 30 squares about 9cm by 9cm. we then got that piece and another piece of blank paper and had to copy the original art onto our blank piece of paper. once we had done that we then got them all together and made it into a massive piece of art.

Camp portfolio post 2016



Description:  Last week Poutama and Poutokomanawa went camping at El-Rancho. We took buses there and it was a one hour drive. When we got there we went on a discover El-Rancho tour it was a lot like an hunt for different things. Then we had morning tea and then went to make our beds and cabins. After that we had lunch and then did our first activities. They were pool, archery, Mini golf, water side, rifles, horses, low ropes, kayak, rafts, team initiative.

Camp writing portfolio post.


Description: This term for writing we worked on stories about camp the could be informational, entertaining, persuasive or about your self. I wrote to entertain people because I like entertainment nor than all the other things I mentioned. Here is my writing/draft. There will be more I'm just not up to that stage yet.


On the way to camp we went in buses. It was pouring down with rain when our bus broke down and we had to walk to camp. Six people died of the cold and three others died by drowning because the rain was so thick in some places. When we got there the boys went on a discover El-Rancho trip. We got back and no one got hurt so I thought that our recent bad luck was all gone. Now this is where I was wrong. Lachlan was setting up his bed with the rest of the people in his cabin. Those people were me, Luke, Angus, Toby and Sam. Lachlan accidentally dropped his torch in his sleeping bag so he went head first into it to retrieve it. But he got stuck and ran out of air and died. Then we went to the stone hall. We got into groups and headed out to our first activity. Unfortunately three groups got so excited one group died of a heart attack another one died because they ran to get to their activity and slipped on the slippery stone and cracked their heads open and brains squeezed their way out and slopped all over the floor. We all went more slowly after that. Our first activity was the pool.( If you dislike gore and blood and guts I suggest ending the story now before you puke. Also if you have a seizure problem please consult a doctor before reading this as you may die. Thanks Jayden.) 


We headed to the pools for the swim unfortunately we had to go in the nude because all our clothes were wet.  Now as you would know that was not good because there was a mixture of boys and girls in the groups so most of our group fainted of embarrassment and two others wanted to try their luck with swimming in the pool because they didn't know how to swim. One of them drowned and turned so pale he could have been paper. The other one was rescued just before he died and  was puking up water on the side of the pool. He puked so much that at first he puked blood, and then he puked out his gut, and then his heart and then he died. And that was the end of the pools. So on to our next activity… 


Archery. Now as you probably know this will be very dangerous if you have bad luck which obviously have. So this is how it went. We got taught how to use bows by the instructors. When one instructor showed us how to draw back a bow the bow string snapped and whipped out his eye so we had to replace it with a rock we found outside to stop the bleeding. The other instructor vomited. After we went back to school and our parents picked us up and took us home.

My one word art portfolio sample 2016.

Description: At school we selected our one word for 2016. My one word is progress I chose that word because I want to progress in everything I do. This post is about a one word. A one word is a word that you have for the year, excample it's like a goal that you strive for the whole year like progressing in math or reading or writing. Anything you like really. Elly toke a photo of us holding a fake sign. We had to get a thick bit of paper and make a sight to stick on to it. We had a few practises before we started the real thing. Once we had made our sign we stuck it on so it looked like a real sign and then we stuck it up on a wall.

Feedback: I like how you made the sign big so lots of people can see it.
Feedforward: maybe you should  make it so it more related to you.

Listening post 2016

Description: In poutama we have been learning about all the types of listening . Their is active listening where the listener has his/her full attention on you and eye contact directly on you and isn't buting in or doing anything bad. and busy listing is where the listener isn't paying attention and isn't giving you eye contact. and me to listening is when the listener is buting in and not giving any time to listen.




Big idea: We had to get into groups of three and it had to contain a girl a boy and it had to have a year five and six. Our group had a year five girl and two year six boys. And from this we have to make a video about the three different type of learning.

Treaty of Wiatangi.

Description: At school we did the Treaty of Waitangi on minecraft. We did a maze quiz about it. 
 We decided to do a maze beacause if you were at the end and there was only one more question to go and you failed you would have to start from the srart and this time you would slow down take in the information and think. I worked with Finns, Mike and Flecther. We had the question in front of two iron doors andThere were answers above or beside those iron doors. if you chose the wrong one you would have to Start the quiz from the start. If you complete it you get a dropper drop a ton of goodies.
We did a Rubric. A Rubric is a sheet of paper that has five goals on it. You have a aim to reach one of those goals in your post. The five things are Uni: Is one idea or fact about your peice. And the rest is bellow.
 


Big idea: we learnt all about the treaty and about Captain Cook and William to try and repeat it on my Minecraft. We went on the internet to do some research. We found ot fifteen ideas and copied a few of them onto my world. I had help from Finns, Mike and Flecther. We learnt a lot about the treaty that could have changed the course of New Zealand. We hope you learn something to.

The Description: We are writing questions about the treaty of waitangi and here are my ones. We are learning about it and doing research to understand the treaty better.

1. Why did the pommies even want the whole New Zealand because they already owned a lot.
2. When did the pommies buy New Zealand.
3. when did the pommies completly colonise new zealand.
4. When did Waitangi day become a public holiday.
5. Who were the main people at the time the treaty was signed.
6. What was the first New Zealand settler ship called.
Answers: 
1. Because they wanted to expand there empire and New Zealand was not owned so it had valuable materials. 
2. 1947 to 1966
3. They colonised new zealand in 1841 and elevin years later, the British Parliament passed the first fully implemented act to grant self-governance to the new colonie.
4. 6th of February 1960.
5. Lord Normanby, Captain William Hobson, James Busby, Reverend Henry Williams, Tamati Waaka NĂȘnĂȘ and James Reddy Clendon.
6. The Aurora.
Also did you know out of 1840 moari Chiefs only approximately 500 actually signed the treaty.

Description: today we have been learning to set goals. Our goal is to have one word and to make that word our goal in our social, home and school lives.

My one word is progress.
I chose this word because I want to progress in my work like my writing, reading, math and other stuff like to get better at sports that I like.
